Understanding the user
Summary
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. The project targets teenager and adults who love making handcrafts.
The research confirms the initial consumption that users want a website which provides DIY collections, easy navigation, simple search and filter. The research also reveal that the users want to save videos for later use and read short description of what materials, tool and duration require for a DIY project.
User pain points
- Not easy to search and filter tutorial videos based on some specific needs such as tools, materials, duration, etc
- Some platforms are not responsive. It’s hard to view on tablet screen
Persona
Layla is a software developer who needs a responsive DIY videos website on her tablet because she often watches instruction videos while making her DIY furniture
